ATMA celebrates the centenary of French composer Olivier Messiaen, one of the most important composers of the mid- to late-20th century. Suzie LeBlanc is best-known on recordings for her work with Baroque music, and is perhaps ATMA’s most prolific recording artist. Her famous purity of tone and impeccable musicianship make her a superb interpreter of Messiaen’s austerely beautiful work. Robert Kortgaard is one of the most sought-after vocal accompanists in Canada today, and a musician who is at home in a broad variety of music. This is his first recording for ATMA. American-born tenor Lawrence Wiliford joins LeBlanc, Andriani and Kortgaard for Messiaen’s cantata, La Mort du nombre. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Opera Company’s prestigious Ensemble Studio.
