Less than two weeks after its March 30 release, Marc Hervieux’s debut operatic recording Tenor Arias has topped the Soundscan classical charts for sales in Canada. The “thrilling and absolutely first class” tenor is joined by superstar conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Orchestre Métropolitain on this recording, which features the most beautiful arias from Italian opera.
In Toronto next week, Marc Hervieux will be featured in a 20-minute Lobby Concert with host Alexa Petrenko and piano accompanist Nicole Bellamy at 3:20 pm on Monday April 19. This mini-concert/interview will be broadcast and streamed LIVE on Classical 96.3 FM and www.classical963fm.com.
“… the listener may shed a tear from the beauty and power of this tenor's instrument.”
—Edmonton Journal
“Hervieux sings here with power and fullness. We couldn’t imagine anyone singing louder, yet he knows how to control and diminish his gigantic sound whenever the text calls for it. Nézet-Séguin and the Metropolitain literally breathe with the singer.”
—La Presse
“Hervieux has an exceptional voice – big, brawny and richly coloured, along the lines of Placido Domingo’s.”
–Toronto Star
“There is nothing in the Pavarotti repertoire this singer could not handle.”
—Montreal Gazette
“…his singing… is thrilling and absolutely first class.”
—Calgary Herald
