Nézet-Séguin to head Philadelphia Orchestra!

ATMA Classique congratulates conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin on his appointment to the post of Music Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra. This is the fourth title that the Montréal-based conductor adds to his roster of top international posts, which include the Music Director of the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Principal Guest Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and Music Director of the Orchestre Métropolitain.

Nézet-Séguin’s extensive ATMA Classique discography with the Orchestre Métropolitain includes several award-winning recordings. Acclaimed by musicians, audiences and critics alike for his musicality, dedication and charisma, he is in great demand as a symphonic and operatic conductor and has appeared with leading orchestras around the world.

ATMA Classique is proud its long-standing relationship with Nézet-Séguin since he assumed the post of Music Director of the Orchestre Métropolitain in 2002 — a position he is committed to until at least 2015. Nézet-Séguin’s latest ATMA recording is Tenor Arias with the gifted Marc Hervieux. Released last March, Tenor Arias remains among the top-selling classical titles in Canada.

Nézet-Séguin joins the Orchestre Métropolitain and the ATMA team in early July to record works by Franck and Schmitt for what will be his 13th disc for the ATMA label.
