A chamber musician at heart, this is Margaret Little’s first adventure in recording solo repertoire. To bring out all the rich sonorities of her beautiful instrument on this recording, Margaret Little has chosen works for solo viola da gamba (without continuo) by Italian, French, and English Renaissance composers, including Giovanni Bassano, Tobias Hume, the Sieur de Sainte-Colombe, and Marin Marais. Margaret Little discovered the viola da gamba at the age of eleven and fell in love instantly with the instrument and its repertoire. Margaret has been performing since 1975 as a soloist and a chamber musician on the viola da gamba and baroque viola with various Montreal-based groups. Little founded the viola da gamba duo and consort Les Voix humaines with her colleague Susie Napper over twenty years ago.
