Marie Fabie

A graduate of the École de Musique Vincent d'Indy, Marie Fabi studied with Yvonne Hubert (Montreal) and Maria Curcio (London). She completed a Master's degree under Menabem Pressler, pianist for the Beaux Arts Trio, at Indiana University where she was also responsible for the establishment of a doctoral program in chamber music.

Awarded grants from the Canada Council, the Quebec Ministry of Culture and the F.C.A.R., she also won numerous prizes and bursaries from the Canadian Music Competitions. The city of Sherbrooke has recognized the outstanding artistic achievements of its native daughter by awarding her the Prix d'Excellence du Comité culturel as well as the Prix Valmore-Olivier.

In constant demand as a pianist and chamber musician, she has toured Canada, the United States and Europe. Performances in Washington, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Brussels and Barcelona were met with highly acclaim.

Marie Fabi regularly joins musicians from well-known ensembles including members of the MSO, I Musici and the Claudel Quartet, receiving glowing reviews for her artistry in her recording of the Dvorak quintet. %22Marie Fabi confirms her exceptional qualities as a pianist and chamber musician. Frequently invited to participate on jury panels by major Canadian competitions, Marie Fabi is recognized as an outstanding teacher of both piano performance and chamber music. Since 1997, she teaches at Laval University.
