A student of Leslie Snider at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec at Chicoutimi, Annie Gadbois graduated from that school in 1987 after having completed the Concours in cello and chamber music. She pursued her studies under Stephen Kates at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, where she obtained a Master's degree in performance and an Artist's diploma in 1992.
A grant holder from the Quebec Ministry of Culture and from the Canada Council, she has also been awarded many prizes and scholarships, such as the All Collegiate Scholar prize given by the United States Achievement Academy as well as the Gregor Piatigorsky cello scholarship and Myriam Friedberg chamber music scholarship awarded by the Peabody Conservatory. She is a recipient of the Gabor Rejto Fellowship from the Music Academy of the West and the 1986 Prix d'excellence from the city of Chicoutimi.
In chamber music, Annie Gadbois bas worked with such masters as Leon Fleisher and Samuel Sanders and participated in the 1993 First International Music Encounters in Jerusalem under the joint direction of the famed Yo-Yo Ma, Isaac Stern and Emanuel Ax. As a founding member of the Nelligan Trio, she bas participated in a Quebec tour for youth and Music Canada as well as having performed in many festivals in Canada and the United States. During the 1995-96 season, she was replacement cellist for the Claudel String Quartet, with whom she performed in Quebec and the Maritimes.
