Lucie Roy studied under Nicole Paiement to obtain her Master’s degree in conducting. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in performance (singing and piano) from McGill University, and a specialized diploma in opera from Wilfrid Laurier University. Performing as a soloist and chorister with various professional ensembles for more than 25 years, she has worked with many eminent conductors, and appreciated a wide variety of conducting styles. A choral director since 1996, Madame Roy now conducts two quite different choirs: Modulation, a chamber choir of equal female voices, and since January 2001, the Disciples de Massenet choir. Madame Roy has been teaching music for the past 20 years. Amongst other notable activities, she gives workshops in vocal technique in the Montreal and Quebec City regions, and is regularly invited to contribute as a resource person to the choral-conductor training program of the Alliance des chorales du Québec.
