Les Jacobins

, group

Les Jacobins, an ensemble of variable size, is more a project than an established group. The ensemble originated in a desire to explore the rich but little-known repertoire of music associated with the French Revolution and to make it known to a wider public. The group is comprised ofMathieu Lussier in collaboration with wind players from here and abroad, and this exploration of Méhul’s music is its second CD on the ATMA label after a first opus dedicated to the music of François-Joseph Gossec. Other projects, the fruit of our continuing search through this repertoire, so rich in works for winds, are in the works, including a world premier recording on period instruments of the symphonies for wind instruments by Devienne, Méhul, Jadin, Gossec, and Catel.
