According to the Polish newspaper Krakow Dziennik, soprano Maria Knapik has “a magnificent voice and consummate vocal technique; she can perform arias by either Handel or Rossini with equal perfection.” Her command of technique, particularly in the operatic repertoire, has brought her principal roles with the New York Grand Opera — at Carnegie Hall and at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York, at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington — and praise from critics. She has won many prestigious prizes and honors at international competitions in the United States and in Italy. She is equally at ease whether singing fiery or gentle operatic roles, and excels in the sober, deep emotions of oratorios, masses, and requiems. She was guest soloist in Montreal at the North American premiere of La Messe solennelle de Saint-Remi, in 2008, and the world premiere of La Messe de la Délivrance, in 2009. The refined voice of this high-flying soloist is perfect suited to the quality of these two works by Théodore Dubois.
