Jivko Georgiev

Active in the Montreal early music scene, Baroque cellist and viola da gamba player Jivko Georgiev received his early-music training at McGill University where he studied with virtuoso gambist Susie Napper and also participated in many master classes with other renowned experts such as Wieland Kuijken, Jaapter Linden, and Pieter Wispelwey. He has played and recorded numerous projects for CBC Radio and the ATMA label with Les Voix humaines, La Bande Montréal Baroque, Les Boréades, the Telemann Ensemble and the Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal. In 2006, as part of the La Fiorenza ensemble, he won the first prizes (jury and public) of the Galaxie competition for young performers in the Montreal Baroque Festival. He is the founder and artistic director of the Per Sonar concert series, exploring Italian Baroque music, where he can be heard regularly as a soloist or in the continuo section.
