Etienne Dupuis

Étienne Dupuis has recently advanced in his career as a baritone, making a wellreceived debut with the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the roles of Zurga in Les Pêcheurs de perles—in a cast including Patricia Ciofi and Joseph Calleja—, Figaro in the Barber of Seville, and Germont in La Traviata. As well as singing in Benjamin Godard’s La Vivandière at the Festival de Radio France in Montpellier, he recently sang Hoël in Dinorah with the Berlin Philharmonic, Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohème at Vancouver Opera, André Thorel in Massenet’s Thèrèse, Figaro in the Barber of Seville at the Opéra d’Avignon, and at the Opéra de Montréal, Valentin in Faust, Joe de Rocher in Dead Man Walking at the Opéra de Montréal, and Zurga in Les Pêcheurs de Perles at both the Opéra national du Rhin and the Opéra de Nantes. After studying at McGill University in Montreal, he joined the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra deMontréal and began appearing inmajor venues, both nationally and internationally, in roles ranging from Figaro in The Barber of Seville for the Opéra de Marseille to Johnny Rockfort in the operatic version of Starmania, first in Quebec City and then in Montreal. His current projects include several productions with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, at the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, at the Glyndebourne Festival, the Grand Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Opéra de Marseille, La Monnaie in Brussels, in Avignon, at the Zürich Opera House, and at the Opéra national du Rhin.
