For more than 25 years, the musicians of the Claudel-Canimex Quartet have brought to life the repertoire for string quartet with the same ardor and passion as the famous French artist for whom the quartet is named. The musicians use their ‘collective spontaneity and virtuosity’ and their ‘beautiful romantic phrasing’ (Claude Gingras, La Presse) to promote a varied and audacious repertoire fromall time, reserving a prominent place for works by female composers. Active on the Canadianmusic scene, the Claudel-Canimex Quartet has performed at many prestigious events such as the Festival de Lanaudière, the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, the Montreal International Chamber Music Festival, and many others classical music festivals and important community events in Lanaudière region. Over the years, the ensemble has recorded a catalog of various discs. Since 2005, the ensemble has been generously supported by Canimex most notably through the loan of four instruments by the famous French luthier Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume (1798-1875). The musicians Élaine Marcil and Flavie Gagnon, violin, Annie Parent, viola and Jeanne de Chantal Marcil, violoncello are the section leaders of the Sinfonia de Lanaudière.
