Located in the heart of the region whose name it bears, the Orchestre symphonique de la Vallée du Haut-Saint-Laurent (OSVHSL) pretends to be a dynamic and energizing response to the various challenges that its territory knows in terms of professional music, for all purposes non-existent or
declining. Its main objective is to produce live symphonic music in an area which is usually deprived of this musical activity; it hence played it hence played ten times in various cities of the Montérégie West and vicinity since the beginning of its activities, in October 2010. The OSVHSL defines itself as a chamber symphony orchestra dedicated to the interpretation of classical, romantic and post-romantic on period instruments, and consists of about 15 to 25 musicians and their leader, depending the repertoire addressed. Its instrumentists are, or were once part of famous formations (OM, OSM, OSQ ; Arion, I Musici, Les Violons du Roy ; Quatuors Franz Joseph, Molinari and Bozzini) or have recently integrated the world of music professional. The OSVHSL encourages both experienced and newly introduced professionnal musicians.
