Joel González Estrada graduated in classical singing from the Ideario Martiano Conservatory in Havana, Cuba. He currently sings with the
group Nexus, exploring Cuban and various other styles of music. He has taken voice training in France, and participated in major French festivals of early music. His recording projects include a CD with the National Choir of Cuba and the Cuban-based early music ensemble Ars Longa. In Canada, he has sung both Brahms’ German Requiem and Bach’s Mass in B Minor under the direction of Matthias Maute. As a guest soloist and chorister he sang Monteverdi’s Vespers with Charles Daniels, Suzie LeBlanc, Shannon Mercer, and the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal. During the eighth edition of the Montreal Baroque Festival, he sang the roles of Telemaco and Anfinomo in Claudio Monteverdi’s opera Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria by Claudio Monteverdi, under the direction of Eric Milnes.
