Caroline Gélinas was named Révélation Radio-Canada in the classical category in 2017-2018. After studying at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal she became an artist-in-residence at the Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier Lyrique.
She has received awards from the Stingray Rising Star program, the Hnatyshyn Foundation, the Fondation Jacqueline Desmarais, the Jeunesses Musicales of Canada Foundation, and the Art Song Foundation of Canada.
On stage she has sung the title role in Carmen with the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal, and the roles of Siebel in Faust with the Société d’Art Lyrique du Royaume; Nada in Svadba by Ana Sokolović with the Opéra de Montréal; Mercedes in Carmen with the Opéra de Québec; Die Schleppträgerin in Elektra and Mère Jeanne in Dialogue des Carmélites by Poulenc with the Opéra de Montréal; and the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors by Menotti with the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal. She has also sung the roles of Dorabella in Così fan tutte with the Highands Opera Studio; Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette by Gounod and Musette in La Bohème by Leoncavallo with the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute and the International Vocal Art Institute in New York; Dorabella (Così fan tutte) with the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy; and Dido in Dido and Aeneas and Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief by Menotti with the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.
In concert, as well as giving numerous recitals of mélodies and lieder, Caroline Gélinas has performed as soloist in Rachmaninoff`s Vespers, Handel’s Messiah, Rossini’s La Petite messe solennelle, Mozart’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria and his Magnificat, and Bruckner’s Mass No. 3 in F minor.
