Ensemble de flûtes Alizé

, flute

Founded on the talents of eight flautists who collectively bring together the entire transverse flute family of instruments, the Ensemble de Flûtes Alizé gave its inaugural concert in January of 1995 under the direction of Sonia Duquette. The goal of the ensemble is to perform works originally written for eight or more flutes and to resolutely bypass a very rich repertoire of transcriptions for the instrument. The ensemble also encourages the creation of both Canadian and Quebecois repertoires by commissioning works by seasoned composers and placing its resources at the disposal of even the youngest artists.

Despite its short existence, the Ensemble de Flûtes Alizé has already performed several world premieres of works written specifically for the group. A unique ensemble, the Alizé surprises audiences with the accessibility of its contemporary repertoire and seduces a highly diversified group of listeners with its many and varied sounds.
