More than an ensemble, ECM+ produces multidisciplinary concerts and showcases Canadian musical creation throughout the country. Renowned for her flair and her appetite for risk-taking, artistic director Véronique Lacroix is passionate about creation and, with her musicians, is helping to foster the next generation of composers. In addition to its regular season‘s productions, ECM+ tours Canada with the Generation project every two years since 2000. ECM+ has premiered motet han 250 works, mostly Canadian, since it was founded in 1987. In 2007, Véronique Lacroix received the Opus Prize for Artistic Director of the year and in 2009, she won the Friends Of Canadian Music Award, awarded jointly by the Canadian Music Centre and the Canadian League of Composers. The same year, ECM+ was the designated ensemble for the final concert of CBC‘s National Competition for Young Composers, after a first time in 2003. ECM+ participated in international exchanges in Spain, Ukraine, Singapore, France and Mexico as well as in International Festivals such as the Cervantino‘s, Montreal/New Music (MNM), Quebec city‘s Musiques au présent, Toronto‘s Massey Hall New Music and Victoriaville‘s Musique Actuelle. ECM+ has been in residence at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal since 1998.
