David DQ Lee alto David DQ Lee was born in Korea and began his musical journey at a young age by joining the most prestigious children’s choir in Korea, known as the World Vision Korean Children’s Choir, where they provided intensive vocal and music training. Lee is fast establishing an enviable reputation among countertenors of his generation. Winning numerous awards since the age of 19 in international music competitions, such as the Metropolitan National Council Audition in New York, Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition in Belgium, Young Concert Artists International Competition, and Rosa Ponselle International Vocal Competition in New York, has given him numerous performance opportunities. The Time Colonist stated : “It is Lee [as Cherubino] who really steals the show… Voi che sapete was a real showstopper.” He made his recording debut on the ATMA label in works with piano including Haydn’s cantata Arianna a Naxos.
