Chris Norman, a native of Nova Scotia, is regarded as one of the outstanding flute players of our time. He has played a key role in reviving and redefining the flute in traditional Canadian and Scottish music. An inspiring performer, he is renowned as a soloist with groups ranging from chamber ensembles and traditional groups to symphony orchestras, and has toured worldwide with the Chris Norman Ensemble, Baltimore Consort, Helicon and Skyedance. He has many recordings to his credit, including several Hollywood soundtracks. As a composer his works range from traditional tunes that have entered the collective repertoire, to larger scale works for chamber groups and orchestras. He is the founder and director of the renowned Boxwood Festival & Workshop, taking place each summer in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
