Jonathan Crow

Jonathan Crow, concertmaster of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, joined the orchestra six years ago. He graduated from McGill University where he studied with Yehonatan Berick. In 1997, he performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with the Victoria Symphony under the baton of Sir Yehudi Menuhin who invited him to return to the orchestra a year later. He has performed as soloist with most major Canadian orchestras. An avid chamber musician, he has played at chamber music festivals throughout North America, South America and Europe, and has performed in concert with musicians from the Guarneri, Emerson, Vermeer and Tokyo quartets. He recently became violinist of the Canadian string trio Triskelion. An avid advocate of contemporary music, he has premiered works by, among others, Sir Ernest MacMillan, Healey Willan, Eldon Rathburn and Barrie Cabena, and his repertoire includes major concertos by Ligeti, Schnittke and Bernstein. He is frequently heard on radio in Canada, the United States and Europe.
