Trained at the Conservatoire de Paris where she studied with Étienne Ginot, Micheline Lemoine and Joseph Calvet, Chantal Masson-Bourque played in orchestras in Paris and Nice. She began to teach in 1964 at the Université Laval in Québec, where she was responsible for setting up an instrumental teaching program.
As a soloist she recorded 19 concertos for the CBC , ans has appeared as soloist with the OSM, Orchestre symphonique de Québec and Ottawa symphony Orchestra. She has played with the Quatuor Laval since its foundation in 1982, and performs frequently in concerts of chamber music in Quebec and the rest of Canada, the Us, France, Finland and Japan. Also active as a choir conductor, Chantal Masson-Bourque received an award from the Canadian Association of choral conductors in 1996.
