Several ATMA artists will perform in the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, a massive celebration of the contemporary imagination that complements the 2010 Winter Olympics:
► Mezzo-soprano Susan Platts was one of several vocal soloists to take part in the spectacular Mahler Symphony No. 8: Symphony of a Thousand performance in late January with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra under Bramwell Tovey.
► musica intima vocal ensemble takes part in Welcome the World: A Choral Gala on Tuesday February 9 at 7:30 pm. The programme features traditional and contemporary choral works from five continents and a finale with four choral ensembles. musica intima’s latest ATMA recording, into light, will be released in the coming weeks.
► Turning Point Ensemble performs three intimate chamber symphonies, including the world premiere of a daring new work by BC composer John Oliver, and the Canadian premiere of John Adams’ Son of Chamber Symphony on Wednesday, February 24 at 8:00 pm.
► Montreal-based Quatuor Bozzini string quartet performs compositions by Malcolm Goldstein, Jo Kondo, Claude Vivier, and James Tenney on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2:30 pm.
