SMAM tour of Montreal area

The Studio de de musique ancienne de Montréal will be touring the Montreal area in the coming weeks. Under the direction of Christopher Jackson, the Studio performs repertoire from its new ATMA recording, Lagrime di San Pietro (Saint Peter’s Tears) by Orlando di Lasso. Based on text by poet Luigi Tansillo, the work consists of 21 a capella pieces for seven voices: 20 sacred madrigals in Italian, and a final motet in Latin. He dedicated the work to Pope Clement VIII.

Since 1974, the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal has enjoyed a reputation of excellence for its inspired interpretations of the Renaissance and Baroque vocal repertoire. The Studio’s ensemble is composed of 20 remarkable singers, appreciated for the clarity and purity of their voices.
