Chris Norman
A native of Nova Scotia, Chris Norman is regarded as one of the most remarkable flutists of our time. He has played a key role in reviving and redefining the flute within Canadian and Scottish traditional music. An exhilarating performer, he has appeared as a soloist with ensembles of all kinds—from chamber and traditional groups to symphony orchestras—and has toured worldwide with the Chris Norman Ensemble, the Baltimore Consort, Helicon, and Skyedance.
He has performed on numerous recordings, including several Hollywood film scores. As a composer, he has written traditional-style pieces that have now become part of the shared repertoire, as well as larger-scale works for chamber ensembles and orchestras.
He is the founder and director of the renowned Boxwood Festival & Workshop, held every summer in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
