Lise Boucher
Highly regarded by audiences as an extraordinary interpreter of French music, Lise Boucher is also celebrated as a “skilled champion of the piano’s hidden treasures.” She first studied piano with Germaine Malépart at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where she was awarded a Premier Prix in piano. A recipient of the Prix d’Europe and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, she continued her musical training in Paris under the guidance of Antoine Reboulot, Simone Plé-Caussade and Jacques Castérède, while also benefiting from the invaluable insight of Vlado Perlemuter and Alfred Cortot.
Upon her return to Canada, she undertook numerous tours with Jeunesses musicales du Canada and has since remained an active contributor to the country’s musical life. As a recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral soloist, she has recorded extensively—both in studio and in concert—for CBC/Radio-Canada. She has given recitals across Canada, in France, and in the United States, and has appeared as guest soloist with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra. She has also recorded many albums for Radio Canada International.
Her recent recording of Charles Tournemire’s Préludes-Poèmes was unanimously praised by critics in both Canada and France. In January 2000, she gave the North American premiere of D.E. Inghelbrecht’s La Nursery. She has also served as a jury member for the Valentino Bucchi International Competition in Rome.
After many years teaching piano and chamber music at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, Lise Boucher continues to share her expertise through masterclasses devoted to French repertoire.
