Nederlands Kamerkoor
Founded by Félix de Nobel in 1937, the Nederlands Kamerkoor is an independent vocal ensemble that focuses on a cappella repertoire from the High Middle Ages to the present day. In recent years, the Nederlands Kamerkoor has premiered works by John Tavener, James MacMillan, Edith Canat de Chizy, Gija Kancheli, Hans Kox, Harrison Birtwistle, Maurizio Kagel, and Jan Vriend. These premieres have been enthusiastically received by the press.
In 2005, Peter Dijkstra was appointed full-time conductor, and Paul Van Nevel, the Flemish specialist in early music, became honorary guest conductor of the ensemble. Klaas Stok was also appointed choirmaster that same year. The Nederlands Kamerkoor regularly works with conductors who specialize in various musical periods, such as Marcus Creed, Ed Spanjaard, Reinbert de Leeuw, and Roland Hayrabedian.
The ensemble performs several concert series annually in the Netherlands and frequently organizes concerts both domestically and internationally with orchestras and ensembles such as the Schönberg-ASKO Ensemble, the Nieuw Ensemble, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the 18th Century.
In recent years, the Nederlands Kamerkoor has toured several countries, including France, Germany, the United States, Canada, Spain, and Croatia. The Nederlands Kamerkoor has approximately sixty CDs in its discography, some of which have received an Edison Award and/or a Diapason d’Or.
