Christmas Eve, from France to Acadia

In La Veillée de Noël, Suzie LeBlanc revives traditional Christmas carols, taken from the collection Rondes et Chansons populaires illustrées published in Paris at the end of the 19th century and adopted by the Acadians of the Memramcook Valley in New Brunswick. “In 2004, after a concert given in the village of Memramcook, my cousin gave me the collection. Our Acadian ancestors brought from France a whole anthology of beautiful songs which they passed down from generation to generation. The part of the collection entitled Old Christmases particularly caught my attention,” she testifies. From this collection, she therefore created a winter album. Christmas Eve is the 22nd collaboration between Suzie LeBlanc and ATMA Classique.
