Description
Leonardo Leo (1694-1744), one of the most eminent Neapolitan composers of his time, is famous for his incidental and church music; his most remarkable instrumental works remain his six cello concertos. It is above all his interpretations of the Baroque and Classical repertoire that have brought cellist Anner Bylsma to prominence: he is a member of several renowned ensembles, including the Leonhardt Consort and La Petite Bande, and he forms a trio with Hans Brüggen and Gustav Leonhardt, a trio that has become one of the best-known ensembles in Europe. Anner Bylsma is also among the most recorded musicians in the world of early music.
