ATMA Classique is pleased to present a new recording of works by Canadian composer and ondist Marie Bernard. 8 haïkus, Vaste est la vie, and La Petite suite québécoise are works scored for choir, strings, winds, and percussion, and ondes Martenot. Le Chœur de l’art Neuf is accompanied by l’Ensemble d’ondes de Montréal and a chamber orchestra under the direction of Pierre Barrette.

In 2018, the Quebec Choral Alliance established a prize bearing the choral composer’s name. The Marie-Bernard Prize is awarded to a person whose compositions, harmonizations and arrangements have significantly contributed to the development of high quality choral repertoire.
