Description
The tireless Telemann created two important sacred collections in his cantatas year cycles. Various characteristics of these collections deserve scrutiny. The cantatas are remarkable for their flexible instrumentation which includes provisions for both orchestral tutti as well as chamber ensemble performance. It is in this manner that the Ensemble Caprice has recorded these arias and cantatas with German soprano Monika Mauch. In addition, the ensemble performs Telemann’s instrumental works with the renowned Dutch recorder player, Marion Verbruggen.
