Ghada Shbeir
Ghada Shbeir was born in Lebanon. At seventeen, she began her musical training and soon after enrolled at the Lebanese University of the Holy Spirit in Kaslik (USEK).
Four years later, she graduated. While studying singing, she also participated in international concerts and performed traditional and religious songs. She holds degrees in singing and musicology from USEK. She teaches at the university and at the National Conservatory and travels the world. From Poland to Canada, by way of Italy and Great Britain, she offers this hieratic, understated, and unadorned style of singing. Her pure, unadorned voice bursts forth in all its purity and captivates from the outset. It carries the soul away into a kind of sacred ecstasy.
The Syriac repertoire consists of short songs, some lasting less than a minute. It encompasses a range of Christian religious traditions: Maronite, Orthodox, Catholic, Chaldean, and Byzantine rites. A profound chant that invites contemplation, brings inner peace, and gladdens the soul.
