Since its founding in 1987, the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal has strived to offer pioneering Canadian composers a space where new creations can flourish. The “New Territories” series, launched by this CD, aims to showcase the most significant works born from these encounters with the ECM. We have selected them for their originality as much as for their evocative power. These four composers belong to the same generation; their works are characterized by a diversity of trends and styles, a lyricism and a communicative rhythmic dynamism, and a stimulating freedom of expression.
