Description
The collaboration between Manuel Maria Ponce (1882-1948) and Andres Segovia (1893-1987) is the most important in the repertoire of contemporary classical guitar. Indeed, from 1923 to 1948, their cooperation was extremely fruitful and includes an impressive list of works, the majority of which were composed during Ponce’s stay in Paris from 1924 to 1933, when he was a student at the École Normale de Musique de Paris with Paul Dukas. During those same years, Segovia was also living in Paris, thus facilitating their collaborative work.
Classical guitarist Patrick Kearney was born in Montreal and won his first national guitar competition in Ottawa at the age of 10. He completed his Advanced Diploma in performance at the École Normale de Musique de Paris where he obtained the “First Prize” unanimously. Patrick Kearney teaches at Concordia University and Vanier College in Montreal.
